Welcome to Mars Class

 

Welcome to an exciting new year in EYFS! Our Autumn Term is all about getting to know ourselves, each other and our wonderful school community. Through our topics ‘Marvellous Me’ and ‘Let Us Glow’, we will be celebrating what makes each of us unique and discovering all the amazing things we can do.

 

During Marvellous Me, we will explore our families, homes, feelings, senses and the things that make us special. We will develop friendships, learn about our bodies and begin to understand how we can look after ourselves and others. Stories, songs, role play, creative activities and lots of hands-on exploration will help us settle into our new routines and build confidence.

As we move into Let Us Glow, we will celebrate our growing confidence and the wonderful qualities that make us shine. We will explore light, colour, celebrations and the world around us, while continuing to develop our communication, independence and relationships.

Throughout the term, our learning will be woven through the EYFS seven areas of learning, with a strong focus on developing language, early literacy and mathematics, physical development, curiosity and creativity. We will learn through a balance of adult-led experiences and purposeful play, giving children plenty of opportunities to investigate, experiment, talk, move, create and have fun.

 

Most importantly, Autumn Term is about belonging. We want every child to feel safe, valued and confident to be themselves. We will encourage the children to challenge themselves, be curious and become prepared for their next steps in their learning journey.
