Welcome to Pluto Class

Year 5 and 6

Welcome to Pluto Class! We are a hardworking, friendly and caring class where everyone is valued and encouraged to get involved, share their ideas and enjoy their learning.

Being part of Pluto Class also brings some important extra responsibilities. As our school's oldest pupils, we take pride in being positive role models and particularly enjoy supporting our Reception buddies, helping them to settle into life at Sharpness and feel part of our school community.

Autumn 2026

We have lots of exciting learning planned this term. In History, we will investigate what the census can tell us about local areas, using historical census records to discover how people and communities have changed over time. In Geography, we will explore why populations change, looking at settlements, migration and how the world's population has grown.

Our Science learning will cover two fascinating areas. We will investigate life cycles and reproduction in plants and animals before exploring unbalanced forces, including gravity, friction, air resistance and water resistance.

In DT, we will become designers and engineers as we explore structures and playgrounds, creating and testing our own designs. In Computing, we will develop our programming skills through music, including learning about loops and debugging programs.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to be creative. In Art, we will explore painting and mixed-media portraits, while our Music sessions will include brass lessons. In PE, we will develop our skills through dance and gymnastics.
