Important days of the week

PE: Monday and Wednesday

New spellings set: Friday

Spelling test day: Friday

Homework set: Friday

Homework due: Thursday

Homework and home learning

- Spellings are set weekly, which are taken from age-related expectations in the National Curriculum, but differentiated in number or content where this is required.

- English and maths homework will be set weekly; this will alternative between English one week and maths the next.

- Topic home learning will be set termly in the form of a home project. Details will be uploaded to the class page.

- We really encourage you to listen to your child reading three to five times a week. When children read for pleasure outside of school, the impact on their English work is really noticeable and supports their learning in school.

- Practising times tables is essential. This does not have to be formal and can be part of shopping, cooking or just whilst having fun! By the end of Y4, children are expected to know the multiplication and associated division facts up to 12x12. Being able to recall this knowledge fluently, enables children to calculate, problem solve and reason much more efficiently, and crucially, helps to build their confidence in maths.
