Performance Poetry

In our SMSC assembly on Tuesday, the rest of the school were entertained by Mercury Class who performed a series of poems for us that they had written. Their work was inspired by the poetry of Eleanor Farjeon and Charles Causley.

We were all impressed by how confidently they performed. Although some of them said afterwards that they had been very nervous, they certainly didn't show it. 

We also thought that the actions they had chosen to go with their poems really made their poems come to life. They had some fantastic words choices and some incredible phrases to share with us including:

The shocking sounds in the peacful evening...

The ticking and clicking of the irritating clock...

The angry wind, blowing the sleeping treees...

And the tiptoeing on the shiny stairs...
